Where does the time go? It's calendar time again and here we await delivery of Blues Image's ninth year of classic blues art from the Paramount Records Publicity Department. For 2012 they've certainly pulled out all the stops with advertising artwork for releases by Georgia Tom & Tampa Red, Furry Lewis, Ora Brown, Charley Patton, Blind Blake, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Ida Cox, Harum Scarum, Charlie Spand, Teddy Darby, Papa Charlie Jackson and Blind Joel Taggart.

The free CD features all the songs illustrated for each month of the calendar and Blues Images have excelled themselves with seven truly exciting extreme rarities for the bonus tracks we've come to expect.

Mr Postman Blues and Rent Man Blues are two obscure tracks from 1930 by Jenny Pope who recorded with The Memphis Jug Band. Precious Lord and Little Black Train are two never-heard-before songs by Blind Joel Taggart from the only existing, crudely recorded acetate made in 1948 in Chicago and there's even a never-seen-before photo of Taggart on the December page of the calendar! Also included are Lane Hardin's Hard Time Blues and California Desert Blues  from 1935 but most exciting of all is a track from the Pacific 78 - Cartey Blues, believed to be a "vanity pressing" recorded in 1948 under the name Harden Lane. It's a beautiful slow acoustic blues with the guitar laying down a steady beat while Lane pours out some relaxed, crystal clear vocals. The whole thing is a real gem.

Who can resist it? A brilliant calendar to brighten your 2012!
